In my early twenties, I gained 37 pounds in just over a year.
I didn’t understand why my body had changed so dramatically, and I spent years trying to figure out what I was missing.
The experience stayed with me.
Years later, as a nurse practitioner, I began hearing different versions of the same frustration from women who were taking care of themselves, asking questions, and still didn’t understand why they weren’t feeling or responding the way they expected.
I knew what it felt like to want someone to look closer.
That experience eventually became part of the reason Total Metabolic Health exists today.

What stayed with me was the confusion of not understanding why my body had changed.
\
I was young, active, and accustomed to feeling at home in my body. Then, in just over a year, that changed.
I spent years trying different things, searching for answers, and carrying far more shame around my body than I knew how to talk about at the time.
When I asked questions, I often left feeling as though what I was experiencing was simply something I needed to accept.
It took nearly a decade of trial, error, and learning before I finally began to feel like myself again.
But that experience never really left me.
Years later, as a nurse practitioner, I began meeting women who were exercising, paying attention to their nutrition, taking supplements, going to their appointments, and sometimes already using hormone therapy.
And yet I kept hearing some version of:
“I’m doing all of this. Why do I still not feel like myself?”
I recognized that frustration.
Instead of assuming they simply needed to try harder, I became more interested in what we might not be seeing yet.
That curiosity ultimately changed the direction of my work.

My career in healthcare began long before Total Metabolic Health.
I spent five years as a registered nurse at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, where I continued practicing for another six years. Those years gave me a strong foundation in conventional medicine and taught me how to evaluate symptoms, think clinically, and recognize when something required medical care.
But as I worked with more women struggling with weight, energy, hormones, and metabolic health, I found myself asking different questions.
What if the individual pieces made more sense when we looked at them together?
In 2019, I began additional training in functional nutrition, followed by further education in functional medicine and lab interpretation.
That training didn't replace my medical background. It expanded the lens I was looking through.
I became less interested in looking at one symptom, one hormone, or one lab value in isolation, and more interested in what we could learn by looking at a woman’s symptoms, history, lifestyle, and data together.
And I kept learning, because even after years of working this way, I could see there was still a gap between having more information and knowing how to turn that information into a thoughtful, individualized strategy that made sense for her.
Understanding what may be influencing the way you feel is important.
But insight alone doesn’t change your health.
What matters is knowing what deserves your attention, what to do with that information, and having the support to put it into practice in a way that makes sense for you.
That’s why our approach combines what we learn about your body with individualized nutrition, lifestyle, and health coaching designed to help you create change you can sustain.
Symptoms, bloodwork, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, recovery, and what you’ve already tried can all add context.
We don’t want to make decisions from one number or one symptom when there may be more to consider.
More information can easily become more overwhelm.
Our job is to help you make sense of what we’re seeing and narrow the focus so you’re not trying to change everything at once.
Your strategy shouldn’t exist on paper and stay there.
We pay attention to how you’re feeling, what’s changing, what isn’t, and what you’re able to implement. That feedback helps inform what comes next.
Total Metabolic Health may have started with my story, but the work we do today is not mine alone.
Our team brings together years of healthcare experience, functional nutrition training, and health coaching with a shared commitment to helping women understand what deserves their attention and turn that understanding into meaningful change.
Because an individualized strategy matters. So does having someone beside you as you put it into practice.

My own experience may have started me down this path, but more than 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner shaped the way I think, ask questions, and approach health today.
Over time, additional training in functional nutrition, functional medicine, and lab interpretation expanded that perspective and ultimately led to the development of Total Metabolic Health.
Today, I guide the vision and continued development of our approach, work directly with clients, and serve as a resource to our coaching team when additional perspective is needed.
What matters most to me is that the women who come to us feel heard, understand why we’re focusing where we are, and have a strategy that reflects the person in front of us, not simply a protocol on paper.

Lindsey brings both a nursing background and a deeply practical approach to coaching women through change.
Before moving into functional nutrition and health coaching, she spent more than seven years working in hospital settings, with experience in Pediatric Oncology, Endocrinology, and Adult Oncology.
Lindsey’s interest in functional health became personal when her own health challenges led her to start asking different questions about nutrition, hormones, and lifestyle. That experience eventually led her to become a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor and Health Coach.
Today, Lindsey works directly with many of our Total Metabolic Health clients, helping them understand their strategy, navigate the changes they’re making, and figure out how to make those changes work in real life.
One of Lindsey’s strengths is helping women bridge the gap between knowing what to do and figuring out how to make it work in real life.
When you work with Total Metabolic Health, your coach gets to know your story, your goals, your challenges, and how you’re responding along the way.
She guides you through the process, helps you make sense of what you’re learning, and works with you to adjust your strategy as you progress.
When a client’s situation would benefit from another perspective, our coaches have the ability to consult within the Total Metabolic Health team.
As founder, Lori guides the approach behind Total Metabolic Health and serves as a resource to the coaching team when additional perspective is helpful.
You get the personal relationship of working closely with your coach, with the added support of a team behind the process.

You already have a life that asks a lot of you.
Work. Family. Relationships. Travel. Training. Responsibilities. Hormonal changes. Stressful seasons. Nights when sleep doesn’t go according to plan and weeks when your routine gets turned upside down.
A strategy can look perfect on paper and still fall apart if it doesn’t account for the person who has to live it.
That’s why we’re not interested in helping you become better at following an increasingly complicated list of health rules.
We want to help you understand what matters most for you, focus your effort where it can be most useful, and build changes that can become part of your actual life.
You may already know exactly what you want to change.
You want your effort to start producing results again. More energy. More strength. To feel more comfortable in your body and more like yourself.
What may be less clear is what will actually move you forward.
That’s where we can help.
On a complimentary call, we’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to be different. From there, we can decide together whether Total Metabolic Health is the right next step.
Come with your questions. We’ll start with where you are and where you want to go.
